  as usual i am so dumb, i was thrown by 4a as i kept reading the first word as re-enter

  for 2d, unless i am mistaken (which of course i am) EERIE and AIRY are not homophones to me

    hah, I kept reading it as "Reenter" too :P

    and yeah, those words are not homophones in my dialect either (though as it turns out, "eyrie", meaning an eagle's nest, can be pronounced as a homophone for either of them)
