  My focus on this puzzle was to write clues with no words extraneous to the straight or cryptic definitions, which is a mistake I've made on prior fills. I'm especially proud of 7D for this.

  Really nice puzzle! You have so many clever surfaces. The one thing I will say though is that 1A probably shouldn't have "the".
