Nice one Ben - very clever theme! I almost got it but got stuck on FOERAL
10D FOERAL*Clever military officer, wily commander, or cunning army leader
    - can you explain that one to me I'm still stuck on it? 😂
FYI I moved the stars on your clues to the beginning instead of the end - that way Crosshare picks them up and highlights the connected entries.

Thanks Mike! Ya, this was testing out the website (my first time trying to use it to share puzzles). I also found a couple other mistakes and made slight adjustments (particularly changed LLBS
29A LLBSLaw degrees in the UK
      / BRED
      30D BREDSired
      to LLCS / CRED). FOERAL
10D FOERAL*Clever military officer, wily commander, or cunning army leader
is supposed to be "Foxy general" with "oxygen" --> "O"

wowza... that was hard... i got BORON and CARBON early on... so knew that elements were at play... never heard the expression "wooden nickel" before so Ni took me a long time - nice theme

ohhh FAR GONE... i missed that one too... really cute... one tiny quibble... is "proscuito" a spelling variant with one t? i've always seen it as two... foxy general hahaha that made me smile
      • Ben Shindel constructor · 6 months ago
This is a very reasonable quibble... prosciuto is not at all a normal spelling variant that I am aware of, but my crossword making software had it in the default library, and by the time I realized, it was too late, so I just rolled with it.
