Thank you for a very entertaining cryptic. 4A4AWork with time alien to make religious music (5)[-----] Unsure about MO = "work" 5D5DMost of an outing overturned for small amount (3)[---] Unsure about DATE as a synonym for "excursion" 13D13DAvoid eco-friendly car for energy (5)[-----] AD = "for" is something that I've never seen in a cryptic; it isn't listed in any of my reference works, including Chambers. 14D14DArmy has small dog to destroy (3,2)[-----] RI = "army"; again, something I've never seen before and I can't find it in any of my reference works.

        Hi again!
        Thanks for the comments.
I’ve seen MO for work in a published crossword before, I think it was a Quick Cryptic from the Times.
        Noted about date/ excursion.
I’ll double check AD- it definitely means ‘for’ in borrowed phrases from Latin, eg ‘ad hod’ and ‘as hominem’.
I’d thought that RI stands for Royal Infantry. I checked it just now online, and found a comment on a crossword blog where someone says “ RI=Royal infantry is something I’ve known since my youth, but it seems to have disappeared from the dictionaries”. Maybe I’ll stop using it now.

Thanks for the reply. I've seen MO as an abbreviation for "modus operandi" - i.e. way of working. I'm a Daily Telegraph fan; I don't usually stray into the wild outlands of "The Times" 😁
