The name of a German-speaking place or person clues you have to translate into or out of German (e.g. "Fritz's good intestines (3)" = GUT, which means GOOD in German and INTESTINES in English). Similarly, the name of a French-speaking person or place means you have to translate into or out of French (e.g. "Martin and Kingsley are Paris's friends (4)" = AMIS, which means FRIENDS in French and is the surname of the late novelists Martin Amis and Kingsley Amis) and .
