We've Got Chemistry

Constructor's Note
This puzzle has a somewhat niche theme (Chemistry) that might make it a little harder to non-chemists but my hope is that the rest of the fill is clued straight enough to minimize the number of naticks. Other random note, often times if a fill entry is new information to me I'll admit that by ending the clue with ", apparently". As always, I'd love to hear any feedback on fill, clueing and grid construction - cheers and happy solving!
This is my third puzzle for Crosshare and oh my gosh! I am having so much fun logging in each time and seeing new people solve my puzzles and its so interesting to see what is easy for most folks and what is more challenging. I absolutely love it and it has just, like, re-doubled my zeal and excitement for crossword construction this week. Anyways, my next few uploads are going to be past puzzles of mine (seen by officemates but not the internet at large) and they are all semi-shameless tributes to personal passions. TBH - I'm afraid that this is going to make them much more niche than most crosswords are supposed to be; but my hope is that for the few people who share my interest in both crosswords and whatever the theme is examining will find it all the more rewarding for that exact reason. With that being said.... I also wanted to make sure that even those people who aren't graduate students in chemistry can hopefully solve this organic chemistry themed crossword. I've rewritten some of the non-themed entries with that goal in mind and will do so for all of the other tribute puzzles to come as well. Thanks to everyone who has taken a crack at my past puzzles! Sorry to subject you to a bunch of niche puzzles to come (Playing Cards is next, I think, which isn't so bad; but I'm working on for my favorite comic series right now so it will get worse at some point). And a thanks to anyone who made it all the way through the blog post!

Fun! I love a niche theme, especially when the crossings are fair, like they are in this case. I didn't know any of the theme answers but I enjoyed being educated. I look forward to what you post next!

I never got past the intro chemistry course in college but with a bit of luck guesswork I was able to make it through this puzzle. Looking forward to seeing more niche themes in the future!

Clue for 5=Across may be my favorite clue in 70-plus years of solving. Still laughing.

Phew, that was a tough one! The intersection of 33A and 29D almost got me. Very well done! I've never been so glad my little sister is a scientist!
